Candle Care
How to Get the Most from Your Candle
A precision candle performs best when burned with intention. These are not suggestions. They are the conditions under which the formulation was tested.
The First Burn Matters Most
Light the candle and allow it to burn until the melt pool reaches the edge of the jar on all sides. This takes 2 to 3 hours. If the melt pool does not reach the edge on the first burn, the candle will tunnel for its entire life. There is no fix for this after the fact.
Trim the Wick Before Every Burn
Trim to 1/4 inch (6 mm) before relighting. Every time. A longer wick produces a larger flame, uneven heat, soot on the glass, and mushrooming at the tip. A trimmed wick burns cleaner and extends the life of the candle.
Burn for 2 to 4 Hours
Do not burn for more than 4 hours in a single session. Extended burns overheat the vessel, accelerate fragrance consumption, and can cause the wick to drift off-center. 2 to 4 hours is the tested range for even performance.
Know When to Stop
Discontinue use when approximately 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning below this level overheats the base of the vessel. The candle was designed to perform down to this point, not below it.
Store with the Lid On
When not in use, replace the lid. This preserves cold throw (the scent you smell before lighting) and prevents dust from settling on the wax surface. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Heat and UV degrade fragrance oils over time.
Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials. Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Do not move a candle while lit or while the wax is liquid.
